JOB BRIEF
Our client in the oil and gas industry is seeking to recruit a Chief Geologist Specialist with about 5 years of experience in the oil and gas upstream sector who will be responsible for managing operations in the most cost-effective manner and cost control of all activities in the area of responsibility.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES.
- Provide high-quality geological interpretations, evaluations, and advice to the subsurface team and management.
- Evaluate, maintain, and rank a longer-term (3-10 years) exploration portfolio of prospects, leads, and plays according to their geological probability of success.
- Undertake integrated geological/geophysical studies, evaluation, and QC as required, particularly with Operators and external contractors.
- Support field volumetric assessments for management information and year-end reserve exercises, and work with independent reserve auditors.
- Provide G&G technical assistance to other teams and participate in major projects as required.
- Participate in budget processes related to geological and geoscientific projects, ensuring cost-effective and efficient operations.
- Creation of static 3D modeling, integrating all available geoscience data.
- Awareness and adherence to company HSE policies and Code of Conduct
- Provision of geological data required for Corporate & JV operations according to Joint Operating Agreement (JOA).
- Provision of support for all geological studies and reporting, including but not limited to analogical and/or digital supports, texts, pictures, maps, plots, presentations, and reports.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- MSc in Geology from a recognized university
- Minimum 5 years experience in the oil and gas upstream industry with a strong background in Exploration and Development Geology
- Ability to analyze and report on data.
- Professional experience in Africa and more precisely West Africa is preferred.
- Offshore field experience is highly desirable.
- Good computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent Petro-technical computing skills.
- Professional experience in Petrel software and building static models (modeling).
