The Head of Business Intelligence and Data Scientist should have over 7 years’ experience in Leadership and Business Intelligence lead role who will be responsible for maintaining, supporting, and upgrading reports, dashboards, cubes, and data warehouses.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy
- Develop and deliver a high-quality data strategy for our client to support strategic decisions, drive organizational performance and inform continuous improvement.
- Own and lead company-wide Business Intelligence function in the research, planning, the validation, and implementation of data analytics projects
- Build analytics capabilities to grow the organizations knowledge.
- Develop an approach to BI which enables the use of effective and appropriate external information and data sources to inform internal decision making at the Group to ensure they maintain a market leading position.
Departmental/Stakeholder Collaboration
- Mine and analyse data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing techniques and business strategies.
- Analyse industry information and data to discover trends and patterns to inform business decision making.
- Work with CEO and other departmental heads to develop and embed operational and strategic KPIs across the Group, developing dashboards for group corporate and operational requirements.
- Collaborate with the organization to analyse metrics, access the effectiveness of key programmes and initiatives and to locate new process improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with business development and operations on conducting competitor and new market analysis, leading on the data analysis aspects of this activity.
- Lead on engagement with the Engineering department to ensure the technology behind the BI tools is fit for purpose and secured.
- Work with the various units within the organization to develop algorithms to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to develop commercial products, improve existing sales/marketing strategies and techniques.
Team Management
- Lead the BI team and implement all strategic decisions and developments.
- Direct the work of all analysts and specialist developers within the BI function.
- Ensure effective engagement with the organization in a joint effort to continuously monitor performance and quality control plans to identify improvements.
- Manage BI team members, including assisting with recruitment, conducting regular one to one review, motivating, driving performance, addressing any underperformance, and supporting where required.
- Ensure the BI team adhere to the Data Governance Policy and internal and external compliance standards and regulations.
- Effectively and efficiently manage a team of engineers, analysts, and scientists.
Operational
- Ensure the production of reports, dashboards, and insight production.
- Develop company testing framework and test model quality.
- Leading the full lifecycle activities to include requirements analysis and design, to develop analysis and reporting capabilities.
- Engage with operations to produce and distribute performance forecasting information across our operational delivery.
- Developing smarter methodologies to better forecast initiatives and future performance.
- Map data needs to operational questions, working closely with management to prioritize business and information needs.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- MSc in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics or its equivalent
- 7 plus years of experience in a BI lead role
- Project Management Qualifications (e.g., Agile, Scrum)
- Highly analytical with interest and expertise for analysis and statistics

- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are key to this role as business units will be strategies and plans based on your data analysis and insights.
- Experience in using statistical computer languages to query databases (R, Python, SQL, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
- Experience working with and creating data architectures.
- Strong team management skills
- Ability to meet strict deadlines with no supervision.
- Working knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks.
- Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests, and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.
- Strong B2B, B2C / B2BC domain knowledge.
- Strong experience in e-Commerce, banking, and agricultural operations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams.
