JOB BRIEF

Our client in the manufacturing sector located in Tema, specializing in Power Transformers and other high-value goods associated with electricity production, including power systems and electrical power distribution equipment is seeking to recruit a full-time HR Director for Ghana and the Ecowas region who will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of their people strategy. The role holder should be as passionate about building the culture as they are about their core responsibilities as an HR Leader. The ideal candidate is a builder — Someone who can come in with a willingness and an ability to build HR Operations and Programs from the ground up.

Specific Responsibilities

  1. Design and implement a scalable HR strategy and initiatives in alignment with the organization’s strategic goals as well as to contribute to business success
  2. Development of HR Framework, systems and processes
  3. Partner with the leadership team to gain deep understanding and knowledge of business issues and opportunities to aid in organizational growth
  4. Develop, implement, and maintain performance management and talent review processes
  5. Own the evaluation and maintenance of HR systems related but not limited to performance management, employee engagement, onboarding/offboarding, compensation, and benefits & perks
  6. Lead and execute the business immigration strategy and systems, ensuring employees and candidates feel safe and supported through the visa application and renewal processes
  7. Partner closely with the broader Operations team (Recruiting, Finance, Legal, etc.) to ensure people operations programs, processes, and systems align with the business goals and manage risk appropriately
  8. Partner with the Management Team to resolve employee relations issues; provide coaching and counseling to management and staff; collaborate with legal counsel on issues as appropriate to increase employee satisfaction, engagement, and a positive organizational culture
  9. Develop and implement training programs to ensure that employees have the necessary skills and certifications for their roles, including safety training and compliance with industry standard
  10. Developing the organization’s reward strategy and establish optimum pay and grading structure that meet’s the business requirement and ensure recruitment of competent personnel for positions at all levels in the organization in accordance with the principles for compensation of the organization
  11. Establish appropriate requirements and procedures governing the code of conduct of the organization’s employees in accordance with the ethical rules laid down by the Board and ensure such rules are observed

Job Requirement 

  1. Must possess a Post Graduate degree in relevant field or equivalent.
  2. Must have a minimum of 8+ years of progressively responsible HRBP/Country HR roles (including 3+ years in leadership roles managing a team of direct reports).
  3. Demonstrated track record in building high performing teams, meeting deliverables and deadlines
  4. Strong understanding of relevant employment laws and regulatory rules
  5. Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple priorities in a quick moving and change oriented environment
  6. Proven experience at successfully developing & strengthening management controls and operational processes
  7. Experience partnering with international distributed teams
  8. Well versed in various leave administration
  9. A great teammate who is passionate about developing and being part of a high functioning team and company; demonstrated experience building a great team culture
