Dear Applicants,

As an HR Company, we’ve reviewed countless applications over the years, and while every candidate brings something unique, a few key habits can truly set you apart right from the start. Here are some updated pointers to help you shine in your next application:

Use A Professional Email Address:

An email like awuramaaddo@gmail.com or Kojoboateng@gmail.com reads far better than cutie4lyf22@hotmail.com or bongo2mystic@yahoo.com.

It may seem small, but it helps set a professional tone.

Avoid Sending Blank Emails with Just Attachments:

When applying via email, don’t leave the message body empty. Add a short note introducing yourself and mentioning the role you’re applying for.

Make Sure Your Document Titles Are Clear:

Avoid vague names like finalfinalcv.pdf or doc123. Instead, use filenames like Ama_Operations_Manager_CV.pdf. It makes it easier for hiring teams to identify you.

Ensure Your CV Format Is Easy to Open:

Always send your documents in formats that are readable and widely accepted — ideally, in a PDF format. Avoid editable Word files with complex formatting or Google Drive links that require permission.

Don’t Mix Up Applications:

It happens more than you’d think — applicants mention a different company name or position in their email or cover letter. Always double-check before sending.

Use One Email Thread:

If you’re following up on a previous application, reply to the same email thread. It helps keep conversations organized and saves time for both sides.

Check Grammar and Spelling Before Sending:

Typos in emails or CVs can create the wrong impression. Take a few minutes to proofread, or better yet, have someone else review it too. Makes it much easier!

Respect Application Deadlines and Requirements:

If we request a specific subject line or document format, it’s for a reason. Following these instructions shows us you’re attentive and reliable.

Great opportunities can slip away over small, preventable mistakes, and we’d hate to see that happen.

Take your time, pay attention to details, and let your application reflect the professionalism we know you bring.
